History and Purpose of the Community Forums

In 1987, the first community forum was held in Joliet. Twenty years later the impact and importance of such community forums has not been forgotten. In fact, the value and impact has grown. IADDA invites you to join this important initiative to expand the forums to reach every community in Illinois.

Community forums seek to empower individuals, families, and public officials to affect change in their own communities. By bringing community systems together, we create an open dialogue about substance abuse in our communities and offer concrete solutions. In addition, community forums are used as a tool to bring awareness of new drug/alcohol use trends and issues to your community.

In 2007, 11 community forums were held across Northern Illinois. To more effectively pursue IADDA’s legislative agenda, your voice needs to be heard! This year, we would like to expand the forums to all areas of the state.  Join the effort and host a community forum in your area!
