2007 IADDA Annual Conference

Who Should Attend?

Executive Directors, Middle Management, Clinical Staff (Counselors, Social Workers), Prevention Specialists, Substance Abuse Specialists, Researchers, Policy Makers, Mental Health Professionals, Human and Social Services Workers, Juvenile Justice/Criminal Justice Workers, Child Welfare Workers, Educators, Health Advocates, Community Advocates, and Primary Health Care/Medical Professionals are encouraged to attend.  

Conference Materials

Conference attendees will receive a CD-ROM containing complete conference information and handouts.  Individual workshop presenters may have printed materials available during their session.   

Continuing Education

Attendees can earn continuing education credit for a variety of professional certifications at the IADDA Conference including IAODAPCA, LCSW, LSW, LPC and LCPC.  Attendees needing out-of-state or other types of continuing education units are asked to contact the IADDA office prior to the conference.  Attendees will have to sign for continuing education units each day of the conference.

 Weather and Dress

Weather in Chicago is unpredictable, but in late September, the temperature averages around 64 degrees Fahrenheit.  Bringing rainwear or umbrellas is advisable.  We cannot control the temperature in the meeting rooms so please dress accordingly. 

Cancellation and Refund Policy

Cancellation requests must be received at the IADDA office in writing on or before September 1, 2007.  No refunds will be issued for cancellations received after this date.  There will be a $50 processing fee charged for all cancellations, regardless of the reason.  Please allow up to four weeks for your refund to be processed.  Cancellation requests may be faxed to IADDA at 217.528.7340. 

Substitution Policy

Substitution notification including complete registration information is appreciated prior to the start of the conference.  Walk-in substitutions, however, will be accepted.  No additional fees will be charged for substitutions. 

Meals

Attendees who register for the entire conference have all meals, breaks and the reception included in their registration fee.  Attendees registering for individual conference days have the following meals provided:  

Monday, October 1-          Lunch, Breaks, and Awards Reception  

Tuesday, October 2-          Buffet Breakfast, Breaks, and Lunch  

Wednesday, October 3-     Buffet Breakfast, Break, Lunch  

Attendees who have a special diet (i.e. vegetarian, low carbohydrate, etc.) are asked to contact Pel Thomas prior to the conference.  Special meal requests by conference attendees who do not contact IADDA ahead of time may not be able to be fulfilled.   

Additional individual meal tickets for exhibitors or guests may be purchased by contacting IADDA.  Prices for individual meal tickets are available on the Exhibitor/Sponsor Information page. 

Additionally, individuals who are not registered for the entire conference or the Monday day of the conference may attend the Awards Reception for a fee of $50.  This fee covers the price of beverage and hors d’oeuvres.  This is a time to network and talk one-on-one with fellow conference attendees, DHS Administrators, Legislators and other invited guests.  

Hotel Information

The Wyndham Drake Oak Brook is located at 2301 South York Road, Oak Brook, Illinois. The hotel is easily accessible to major interstates and neighboring corporate headquarters, as well as Oak Brook Center.  The attractions, museums, restaurants, shopping and sports venues of downtown Chicago are a 30-minute drive away.  

After a busy day, unwind and enjoy the health club and fitness center, indoor/outdoor pools, whirlpool, tennis courts or jogging path. Conference attendees are responsible for making their own hotel reservations by calling the Wyndham Drake directly at 800.996.3426.  In order to receive the discounted group rate of $105/night plus tax (standard king), you must mention that you are attending the IADDA conference.  This rate is available until August 31, 2007.  Reservations made after this date are subject to availability.  All reservations must be guaranteed by credit card or first-night reservation fee. 

Hotel check-in is 3 p.m.; check-out is noon.   

Hotel cancellations must be made directly to the hotel.  Cancellations must be received by the hotel at least 24 hours before scheduled arrival.  Those failing to notify the hotel in the requisite time will be charged for the first night of their reservation.  Requests for refunds for cancelled hotel rooms must be made to the hotel.  They are not guaranteed by and are not the responsibility of IADDA.

Location Information

Oak Brook, Illinois is located in close proximity to (approximately 30 minutes from) Chicago. The city is a combination of the modern high-tech world and the calm and quietness of the countryside. From Chicago (Ohare)
Distance: 17 miles

Take I-294 tollway South to 22nd street/Cermack road. Exit, turn left at the top of ramp, continue to the first stop light; turn left on Windsor Drive, which leads to the hotel's entrance.

From Chicago (Midway)
Distance: 20 miles

Take I-55 South to I-294 tollway North to Ogden Ave West. At the 2nd light (York Road) make a right (North). Turn right after light on Dover Street. The hotel is on York and Cermak/22nd Street.
