Qualifications:
Associate Degree (Bachelors Degree preferred) in Behavioral Health or related field and must have Illnois Certification in Substance Abuse or become certified within two years of working in the chemical dependency field; plus two years of experience in Behavioral Health or Chemical Dependency preferred (or Masters Degree plus one year experience). Must have thorough knowledge of the disease model of alcoholism/addiction and its application to patient care. Must have valid drivers license and minimal auto insurance.

Physical and Mental Requirements:
Good organizational skills, ability to use logical thinking to solve problems. Good short-term memory, verbal communication skills, ability to provide and follow effective written and verbal instructions. Ability to effectively monitor and develop subordinates when applicable. Ability to successfully complete training and perform C.P.R. Ability to perform light physical work exerting up to ten (10) pounds or force on an occasional basis. Sitting, standing and walking short distances are activities that the Senior Addiction Counselor must perform.

Position available immediately with benefits. Hours (37.50 week) Monday-Friday 1:30 pm to 9:30 pm. Salary commensurate with education.

Founded in 1974, HRDI today provides services in mental health, alcohol and substance abuse, community health and comprehensive case management, prevention and education, criminal justice, education, gambling counseling, and children and family services. From 2005 to 2006, HRDI served nearly 38,000 clients across 40 programs at over 20 sites throughout Illinois, Alabama, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and Washington, D.C.

A full-time position based in Chicago, the President/CEO’s major responsibilities include leading the execution of the organization’s vision and strategy; analyzing and reshaping (as necessary) the organizational structure; functioning as a lead fundraiser and spokesperson on behalf of HRDI to all external constituencies; and keeping the HRDI Board of Directors apprised of progress against goals.

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 10 years in management of a social service agency or in a related field, with a minimum of five years of senior leadership experience.
